Book : Ruin and Rising
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Pages: 422
Rating: ★★★★★
Goodreads Synopsis:
The capital has fallen.
The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow
throne.
Now the nation's fate rests with a broken
Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great
magical army.
Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and
caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat
and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with
the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still
survives.
Alina will have to forge new alliances and
put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's
amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a
past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the
power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and
destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting
for.
Thoughts:
when I first started reading ruin and
rising I wanted to finish before 31th October but didn't succeed. I was really
busy so there was a lot of time between reading the last book of the grisha
trilogy.
I must admit I didn't expect to much from
it because I already knew a few things that would happen in the book. But I
realize how wrong I was, even though I already knew a few things it still blew
my mind.
Alina turned
out so different, she wasn't who she was anymore when the grisha trilogy
started. she became really strong minded. But at the same time she stayed the
loyal and caring person she was all a long. I really liked that about here and
it was shown so much in the book
Mal changed
to and I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I can't blame him for turning in to
someone so was more closed to other. He was still a nice person but he burried
it deeper in ruin and rising. after a while he changed again and I think that
was because he understood so much more than he did when Alina became a grisha.
he showed understanding forward a world that might beyond his own.
The Darkling didn't
really change that much but omgash he certainly did show a softer side than I
expected. it was heartbreaking to read about him in so many different ways. and
when they revealed his name, which I already knew because I read some spoilers
on tumblr, well it still surprised me how it was brought through the story. he
might not as evil as everyone thought he was and that why I liked him from the
start. the most '' evil '' persons will show that colors and why they became
the way there are now.
Nickolai was
once again in the story like obviously and I must admit I was suprised the most
with all the stuff that happend around him. he seemed like such an odd and nice
person. I understand why people would love him so much. I love him to but not
as much as Tolya and the Darkling.
Tamar changed
a lot to, I can't believe that Leigh Bardugo did such a good job with her. she
was still the same person as I got to know her but she ended up different to.
The loyal and badass girl became a strong woman and the love for her brother is
infinity.
Tolya is
hard to explain. He was still the grumpy and strong in body and soul as always.
But to think he has a different side to him was so much fun. I totally get why
Leigh would make Tolya this way. I wasn't suprised about his other side because
Leigh told us ( the people who were at the release party) herself that she
liked Tolya the most and why. Like how can you not love him, he is amazing and
caring. the kind of guy you would marry but at the same time also the kind of
guy you want as a big brother.
Genya is
the one person I admire. even though she's been through a lot just like the
other characters she looked different at the world than them. she still could
make you feel conscious about our life and gifts. and boy what is she
beautiful, no matter what scars she may have.
Zoya was
still the same annoying but smart girl she always had been. Even though she
slightly changed her attitude towards Alina and I liked that a lot.
I may not have mentioned all the
wonderfull characters, but I have to say there are a lot of them. Leigh Bardugo
did a great job writing this serie and I can't wait to start with six of crows.
The grisha trilogy really changed the way
you look at the world. Everyone can change the world a little but only when you
work together you can make a bigger change.
