Goodreads Synopsis:

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, The Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end.

thoughts:

First, I must admit that once you start reading what this book is all about it just gets you hooked. I got obsessed with it and wanted to read it so badly I had to push myself to finish another book I was reading.

This book is truly amazing! the moment I picked it up was just entered a story where more was possible than I thought it would. But now my heart is broken, and I feel empty for finishing this book. it feels like there is a whole in my heart that can't be fixed. such a big impact for such a small yet so beautiful written book.

Shahrzad character really got to me. it pained me to think about losing my best friend. I think I would end up the same as her en desire for revenge would be part of my character. her story was written very beautiful and delicate. I loved her so much, she made you realize that there is a Shahrzad in every girl even if we want to admit it or not. I always had a thing for strong character and that another reason why I love Shahrzad so much. even though I hear a lot the Shahrzad was '' supposed '' to be bad ass and ended up flat I don't agree with that. My opinion is that she was a bad ass and yet so sweet as honey. that why I liked her so much.

Khalid is a man (like obviously) who gets called boy-king because he is still young. maybe too young to be king. his story is quite tragic and if you think about the way he reacts on Shahrzad, his people and family it makes you feel angry at him but at the same time you start to pity him. I actually fell in love with him the moment he appeared in the book. even though you may think he is a awful person he can make you doubt it after every small thing he does wrong.

the few things that bothered my while reading was that I didn't understand the some of the words and then when I finished the book, I realized it had a dictionary in the back. And how on earth am I going to survive the waiting of book 2?

in short. this book is/was one of the most heartbreaking and beautiful books I've ever read.

the fact that a book can make you feel so empty yet so full is surprising.
